Praful Billore, previously an IIM aspirant for pursuing an MBA, couldn’t crack the CAT (Common Admission Test) exams despite his best efforts.
Hailing from Madhya Pradesh, Praful used to work as an Amway salesman earning Rs 25000 per month during his graduation.
After not scoring enough in CAT to secure admission to prestigious colleges, Praful gave up the idea of an MBA in 2017. He decided to start something of his own. As a result, on July 25, 2017, he started his business and named his tea stall “MBA Chaiwalla.” He sold his tea in earthen cups while individually approaching people to try his tea.
His fluency in English, as well as his marketing tactics, helped him sell 10000-11000 cups daily!
After two years, Praful had opened his own cafe with franchises all over India. He is invited to IIMs for speeches. His recorded turnover for the year is around Rs 3 crore.
Talking with Brut India, Prafull reveals he was mocked by his friends and neighbors who now come to him for advice. He says that he has learned more as a tea seller than he could have ever learned as an MBA student!
No wonder, a degree doesn’t matter knowledge does!
